We LOVE Foggy Fork Farm’s herd! They are close with Skillman Ranch and carry a lot of their amazing genetics, so we jumped at the chance when they listed Honey for sale. Just look at her topline! And her udder attachments are SO nice and tight, even at 5 years old. For improvements, we breed her to bucks with stronger pasterns and pedigrees with larger teat size.
For some reason, Honey is not producing as much milk here as she did at her home farm. She’s also a bit standoffish – she knows her job and does it well without fuss and loves coming up to us for scritches, but she’s not lovey dovey like some of our other girls and has a 6th sense when we’re about to catch her for exams or meds – she KNOWS and takes off running!

After a looong wait, this season’s first chicks are hatching! Svart Honas, Buckeyes, and Partridge Chanteclers in this round.
Some of the Svarts still have annoying white toe tips, but it looks like we managed to eradicate the (very few but present) white wingtips we were seeing, so it’s progress! It’s looking like our rooster might be part of the issue, so we’ll try swapping him out to see how our other guy does. We’ve only got the two, though, so we’ll just keep carrying on & selecting the best!

We managed to snap a few updated pics of the bucklings yesterday while we kicked the youngest trio outside. A few of these guys are still up for grabs and would make really nice herdsires or pets!
A note on our pricing because some people seem a bit shell-shocked when they ask. All of our boys, if they go as pets/market, are 25-175 depending on age & whether we’re the ones wethering them. We’re happy to send most off that way. We offer VERY few doelings unregistered, but those are 100-350 depending on quality.
Registered pricing is more. We’re a performance herd and have stayed in line with or less than most others we’ve seen or worked with around the country. All registered kids start at 450 and go up depending on individual traits & recent pedigrees - we’re talking parents/grandparents, not way distant extended family. We’re still relatively new, so we won’t be asking 800+ for any of our kids (which we’ve gladly paid!) - but our most promising this year might be up to 750. And no, we don’t ask more for fun colors.
We’re not price gouging and certainly aren’t making a profit - we pay to provide the best care that we can for our critters & spoil them rotten, plus the performance programs are also pricey. And don’t even get us started on the genetics we’ve brought in! Seriously, Ken never needs to know exactly how much we’ve spent on goats 🤣
But to us, it’s worth it! We’re doing what we can to help promote and actually improve our chosen breeds, not crank out cheap sale barn critters. Not that there’s anything wrong with that - it’s just two different markets.
We DO sometimes have culls listed at sale barn prices, and we do our best to be fully transparent about all real and perceived faults for those ones.

Late last night, our new Guernsey doelings arrived to round out the family! We’ve been low-key stalking the BadMoonRizn herd for a few years now and jumped at the chance to grab Bellflower and Maple - Bellflower is an ADGA Purebred out of one of our favorite does of theirs, Bouquet Buttercup, and Maple is a 50% Saanen with a super nice Cherry Glen dam 😍
Massive thanks to Cheri & Stanley, and to Katherine Sancuk for transporting these cuties!

Training First Fresheners is just so, so great 🙃
We’ve been super lucky this year until now! Sharp kicked and bucked and had to be straddled the first couple times, but chilled out pretty quickly. Avalon is our most timid goat, though, so we knew that she’d take a ton of extra time and snackies to hopefully behave 😅
We have a 2-week break from kidding - the doe due next is Ober-Boerd Kirlia! Kirlia is the littermate sister to Kyurem, the 2024 National Junior Champion, so we’re super eager to see what she has in store for us!

We were like, “Man, Rowena still isn’t acting quite right!” It kinda felt like there was something when we bumped her, but Jess didn’t feel anything by reaching inside, and there was a little placenta-looking bubble hanging out. We were going to poke around again and dose her with calcium after milking the other girls, if whatever was going on hadn’t passed by then. Apparently, Jess didn’t dig down deep enough or was checking the wrong side, because two girls schlorped out right as we checked the camera, almost 3 hours after their brother was born!
Rowena is our only doe who kids standing up, with zero sound, so it’s hard to tell what’s going on with her 😅

We take back anything negative we’ve ever said about Encore 🙌

A spotty boy for Davinia’s SS Miss Rowena *P and Blackberry’s BQ Encore *B! It looks like he’s got roaning, too.
A few people have asked about pet wethers - he’d be a super nice one!
Encore apparently throws boys - every kid we’ve had from him has been a buckling so far! We’ll try a few other does with him this fall🤞

A very unexpected April Fool’s doeling for BCF Legacy’s PBB Avalon and Mosaic’s Smooth Criminal *B!
Avalon was due on 4/3 and had no obvious signs of labor yet, so she was out in Gen Pop and we were at the store when this baby was born! Our senior doe, Vivi, took her herd queen responsibilities to heart - Viv kept everyone away from the doeling, including her mama 😅
Avalon has zero udder, which shows the importance of having backup colostrum and/or colostrum replacer - we love Shepherd’s Choice from @premier1supplies - it has the highest IgG we could find, plus the kids tolerate it well.
There might be another kid in there, but Avalon isn’t a fan of being touched, so we can’t tell yet.
We’re SO glad that everyone seems to be okay - Avalon is our teeniest FF and smaller than some of our yearlings, so we’ve been terrified of her having birthing trouble!

Two gorgeous doelings for Heaven’s Hollow Sharp and Half Barn Farm TRI Spitfire 🔥
We might let one of these girls go, but this is one of our most anticipated pairings, so we’ll see!

Life is freezing mud today after a strong thunderstorm all night, and most of the girls refused to cooperate for pics, but check out Dolly 😍
We miiight keep one of her two boys, but the other will be up for grabs! They’re our only F6 (purebred) kids this year and have their *B.
We’ll try to get pics of the bucklings soon! One is a slender black & tan mini-me of Dolly and the other is a chonk & we think is buckskin like Denarius, but he’s so covered in white that we’re not 100% sure.

Sorry to our non-goat followers for the rear-end shot, but check out Green Gables Amazing Black Petunia’s cute little pre-udder 😍
We have three Comet daughters here, and absolutely adore them all - Petunia is looking like she’s going to turn out just as nice as Dolly and Lady! Now we just have to convince her that the milk stand will not unalive her after we moved it from its old spot that she was used to 😅

Trying to get cute pics of the geese is really hard when they’re trying to unalive us 😅
Luckily, they’ll be back to their sweet selves soon! Except Charlie - we don’t think he was handled much after hatching, so he usually just avoids us!

Two boys for Green Gables AC She’s a Doll 6*P and Storybook’s Denarius! The first one looks exactly like her, only with dark ears, and the second is a beefcake with lots of white. He came out with one leg back, which was super fun for everyone.
Both of these guys are eligible for their *B if registered. We’re leaning towards keeping one as a Denarius backup, but we’ll see!
*edited to add, because we don’t really care, but know that a lot of people do - they’re F6 and can be registered as purebred as long as their ears stay down!
