We were excited to bring Swiss to our herd because her maternal line is known for parasite resistance and less frequent hoof trimming, as well as gorgeous toplines and tightly-attached udders. Her paternal line is a very strong one and one of our favorites out of Green Gables (Cali’s Grand Finale). We found out during 2024 kidding that she has her dam’s chocolate gene! For improvements, we’ll keep breeding her to bucks who improve feet – she’s got two weirdly curved toes.
In 2024 as a First Freshener, Swiss met the requirements to earn her milk star in butterfat, and had one of the nicest udders we’ve seen in an FF. She also made the 2024 MDGA TopTen list for Butterfat %! We had to let her go for the greater good (hay money), and very much wish we could have kept her longer.
