After our most promising Mini Nubian buck passed away in early 2023, we set out to find a new one. Nobody could ever replace our beloved Marky Mark, but we were ecstatic when Thanh and Liz and their family at CA Blackberry listed Encore for sale – and even more thrilled when they chose us to be his new owners!
Encore is the son of their herd queen and very first Mini Nubian, Paradise Blackberry, and Blue Quartz, who himself is the grandson of one of the most proven Mini Nubian bucks out there – VMCH Blackberry’s Moon Man. His pedigree is absolutely stacked with correct conformation, stunning udders, and consistency across generations.
This guy has been everything we had hoped for – incredibly sweet and gentle to handle, with excellent manners and a calm, easygoing personality. And he’s got all the fancy extras too: blue eyes, roaning, and moonspots. His ears started off pendulous and lifted to drop as he grew, which just adds even more character to this charming guy!
Encore’s strength lies in refinement and correctness. He consistently sires kids with long bodies, level toplines, and clean, elegant front ends. His offspring stand out for their smooth blending, long necks, sharp withers, and balanced frames, making them ideal for herds that want to polish type while keeping structural soundness.
He traces back to some of the most successful show and production lines in the Mini Nubian breed – the Blackberry line known for elegance, style, and strong mammary systems. His kids tend to be straight, square, and eye-catching – the kind that catch a judge’s attention and perform in the milk parlor too.
Important Note: Encore is our hardest keeper – he’s a naturally high-metabolism buck and needs premium feed to maintain condition. His fecals and bloodwork are always clean, and our vet has confirmed healthy teeth – he just burns through calories faster than our others! We suspect his body is still longing for that fancy West Coast alfalfa his family was raised on.
During our Great Downsize of 2025, after we collected straws, Encore moved onto a great home where Jolene also lives.

With Rowena – due 04/03/25, kidded 04/02/25 – roan spotty buck, then spotty doe and blue-eyed roan doe almost 3 hours later
