We stumbled upon Pickles while looking for a quarantine companion for another doeling, and we are SO happy that we did! She is gorgeous and has just the greatest loving, quirky personality. Her dam is an excellent milker and has been in the TopTen, and her sire is out of two really nice Soaring Heart’s goats.
Pickles is one of those does who packs a ton of value into a compact package. As a first freshener, she’s producing on average 5.8 lbs/day with a rich 6.1% butterfat, making her one of our most efficient milkers per pound of body weight. She easily earned her star for butterfat, and we’re almost positive that she will be on MDGA’s 2025 TopTen.
She’s got great body balance for her size, and a solid stance that should hold up well. Her personality is just as bold as her name suggests: curious, social, and always the first to poke her head in the feed bucket.
Her biggest weak areas are her rump angle and rear udder attachment – something we’ll aim to improve in future pairings. But overall, Pickles brings a lot to the table with her combination of production, structure, and personality.
Pickles moved on during our Great Downsizing of 2025, bred to one of our best buds, Ron.
